A small, focused program
Foundations for community wellness support
Seaside Coast College is a small, founder-led private training institution being established under the Private Training Act of British Columbia. We are building one program to begin, with direct instructor access from the first day.
The certificate gives foundational learning in communication, community engagement, wellness awareness, ethics, referral awareness, and non-clinical program-support concepts for community settings that serve older adults. It is theory-based and prepares graduates for entry-level, non-clinical community wellness support roles.
Our purpose
“To help expand access to grounded, theory-based learning in communication, person-centred support, community wellness, and professional ethics, so people preparing for entry-level, non-clinical community support roles can do so with respect for the wisdom and experience of older adults.”
What the program teaches
Four foundations of community
wellness support
A theory-based curriculum grounded in the realities of non-clinical work
alongside older adults in community settings.
01
Person-Centred Communication
Interpersonal communication, person-centred support principles, and professional boundaries in community environments.
02
Older Adult Wellness
Common age-related changes, community wellness awareness, and when to refer individuals to appropriate supports.
03
Ethics & Reflective Practice
Professional conduct and ethical practice expectations, with reflective thinking and scenario-based problem solving.
04
Workplace Readiness
Clear written and verbal communication, documentation, and career preparation for entry-level community roles.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Lynth Brown, LPN
Founder · Senior Educational Administrator · Lead Instructor
Lynth is an adult educator, curriculum developer, and program coordinator with more than two years of full-time instructional and program-coordination experience in adult post-secondary training in British Columbia, including community-services instruction, synchronous online teaching, and curriculum development.
Before teaching, Lynth worked directly in community-based support: community support work with children, youth, and families, and in-home support for older adults. That hands-on background shapes the person-centred, non-clinical foundations this program teaches.
Lynth also holds a current Licensed Practical Nurse registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives. This is a secondary professional credential and is not the basis for delivering this theory-only, non-clinical program.
