Community Wellness Foundations Certificate — Older Adult Focus
Effective Date: Upon Institutional Certification
The following admission requirements match Section 4 of the Program Outline on file with PTIRU. The program is offered to domestic students.
General Admission
Applicants must meet one of the following:
- Successful completion of British Columbia Grade 12, or its provincially recognized equivalent in another Canadian jurisdiction; or
- Mature student status: the applicant is 19 years of age or older before the program start date.
English language proficiency
Applicants whose first language is not English, or who have not completed their secondary or post-secondary education in English, must show proficiency through a recognized third-party standardized test covering reading, writing, listening, and speaking, dated within two years of the start date. In-house tests are not used. Accepted minimums are:

Exemptions
An applicant is exempt from the English test with documentation of either:
- BC English Studies 12 (or equivalent) at C+ or higher; or
- At least three years of full-time secondary education (two years if at the Grade 10 to 12 level), or at least two years of full-time post-secondary education, completed in English in a country where English is a principal language of instruction.
ESL and ELL courses are not counted toward an exemption.
This program is in development and is in the application process with the Private Training Institutions Regulatory Unit (PTIRU). Applications are not yet being accepted.
