Community Wellness Foundations
Certificate — Older Adult Focus

A theory-only, non-clinical certificate in community wellness support for older adults.

The Community Wellness Foundations Certificate — Older Adult Focus is a 300-hour, theory-only certificate in non-clinical community wellness support. It is built for people who want to help older adults stay connected, included, and active in their communities.

The program is delivered entirely online over 10 weeks through synchronous (live) sessions on Microsoft Teams, with all materials, assessments, and records managed in the Tutor learning management system. Each cohort is limited to 10 students. The program is offered to domestic students.

This is a theory-only, non-clinical program. It does not include clinical instruction, personal care, medication, practicum placements, or preparation for regulated health-care employment.

What you will learn


Person-centred communication

Respectful interpersonal communication and person-centred support principles for community settings.

Older adult wellness

Healthy aging through a strengths-based lens, and knowing when to connect people with appropriate community supports.

Ethics & reflective practice

Professional conduct, boundaries, and ethical awareness, applied through reflective, scenario-based learning.

Workplace readiness

Clear written and verbal communication, documentation awareness, and career-preparation skills.

Program structure


The certificate is made up of nine courses delivered in sequence over 10 weeks, building from foundations to a final capstone project.

Delivery and schedule


Classes run Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Pacific, with six instructional hours per day. Sessions are live on Microsoft Teams and require a minimum of 80% attendance. The course pass mark is 70%.

Admission Requirements


After the program


Graduates may pursue entry-level, non-clinical community and social-services support roles (NOC 4212). This occupation is not regulated in British Columbia.

This program is in development and is in the application process with the Private Training Institutions Regulatory Unit (PTIRU). Applications are not yet being accepted.
